Man, with Nerda 2011 comin up some time soon this year, I’m already thinkin back to 2010, my first ever Nerdapalooza. I came in, in a van loaded with my carpool buddy, his friends and two of my friends. There was many jokes being had. We got to our DISGUSTINGLY CROWDED hotel room where my buddy Austin surprisingly managed to rig the TV in the room to work, despite it demanding payment before coughing up our videogames. I had me a short nap that night.
Than the following morning…we were greeted by our friends next door, one of which was an eccentric blue haired fellow who was talking to us for a short bit and bid us farewell with an “enjoy the show”. I was a confused a little bit and than later on surprised as fuck to realize that our blue haired neighbor was Steffo, of My Parents Favorite Music! Not to mention my head exploded multiple times in multiple places from the various amounts of awesome music. And oh christ the amount of swag I walked out with and the free Fangamer Pins me and my bud Miguel got for being dressed as Mario and Luigi.
Than we waited 4 hours for the Protomen thanks to the ASSHOLE sound guy and 2 of the members being unwittingly fed “special cookies” and being pretty much gone in another galaxy. Four awesome hours in which Schaffer the Darklord, in an attempt to keep the crowd entertained, initiated the Burlesque Show ahead of time AND for free! Not to mention, they didn’t scan for IDs or minors. And fuck! The cake there WASN’T A LIE! Me and Austin both got one! Shit was so great! But our wait wasn’t over, so what did we do to continue to pass the time? SPONTANEOUS CROWD BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY! After a little more wait, we finally were blown the fuck back from the stage by the Protomen, who fucking rocked my fucking ears off, WITHOUT two of their members!
And to think, my main reason for going there, besides general merriment, was to see The Adventures of Duane and brandO. Man, I got so much more than I ever could have hoped for. Some of the best days of my life and I can’t wait to do it all again this year!
